Labels and ethics

Ethics

Our ethics are based on a set of moral rules from plantation to distillation via harvesting,
as well as transportation of final products to Switzerland by boat.
This is due to ecological reasons and the fact that essential oils are living products that need to acclimatise.

Another important point in Gedane's ethics deals with working conditions :

We know the issue of child labour which is still current in India and other countries despite strict measures from the government.
  • there is no child labour, children have to go to school.
  • salary standards as well as working hours must be respected.
Gedane has a high concept of quality and moral ethics.
All our products (raw material) come exclusively from India.
Indian plants grow there in different fields own by different farmers, at various altitudes, climates or hydrological levels.
Mature plants are hand-harvested.
Distillation is proceeded to continually in the country.

Labels

In view of the labels and controls mentioned below,
Gedane can certify that all products are 100% pure and natural as well as pesticide-free.

We even go beyond the requirements of traditional organic labels....we offer HYPERORGANIC, thanks to quality controls made on all our essential oils !
And this comes on top of the pureness of traditional and well-preserved organic fields where we grow our plants.

All our essential oils are microbiologically tested pesticide-free, as well as free of any other contamination.
These tests are made on raw material (plants, flowers...) before AND after distillation (in India and at the arrival in Switzerland by EPFL), which allows us to guarantee very high quality products. (quality assurance).
  • ISO
Quality assurance ISO 22'000: 2005 certified by BSI, UK.
  • HACCP
Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point : hazard analysis for food industry. Essential oils can be ingested as well as natural colours, base components of most food and drinks.
  • INDOCERT (BIO)
INDOCERT is certification organisation established in India which works nationally and internationally. It is accredited by the National Accreditation Body (NAB) of Indian government as part of the National Programme for Organic Production in India (NPOP : National Program for Organic Production) and for the Commission of Regulations (ECC no 2092/91) and Regulation (EC) 1788/2001.
On the other hand, INDOCERT is licensed in accordance with EN 45011/ISO 65 from Germany's DAP for farm production certification, harvesting wild plants and manufacturing organic farming products and cattle according to rules corresponding to Reg. (EC) No. 834/2007.
  • FDA
The Food Drug Administration : norms concerning food and cosmetics (pharmaceuticals) altered and sold in the USA or imported.
  • JECFA
Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives : joint commitee (FAO/OMS) of experts in food and agriculture additives.
  • EPFL
Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. Chromatography of Gedane essential oils.
Here are a few norms and qualifications that Gedane essential oils have to pass to arrive in Switzerland and in the rest of the world.
We are also bound to and in accordance with other international norms depending on the countries of exportation.
